Saudi Arabia intercepts missiles and drones as fighting with Houthis rages
Saudi-led coalition says intercepted drone, missile launched towards Riyadh and 10 missiles targeting southern region.

Saudi Arabia has intercepted drones and missiles over its capital, Riyadh, and southern areas, the Saudi-led coalition has said, as fighting with Yemen’s Houthis continues.
Coalition spokesman Major-General Turki al-Maliki said on Sunday its forces intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile launched towards the capital city that morning, as well as a drone in the Riyadh region, and a cruise missile aimed at the southwestern city of Khamis Mushait, with explosions ringing out in the Saudi capital.
The attacks come as operations resumed at two terminals at Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid international airport after deadly attacks earlier this month by the Houthis, an armed group also known as Ansar Allah (Arabic for Supporters of God).
The Saudi civil defence agency said it also responded to falling debris in the Mecca and Medina regions on Saturday after intercepting two Houthi missiles.
